Photo supplied  Apart from his culinary skills, chef Luu Meng says an important ingredient in his successful business is having acquired knowledge in financial literacy. Meng, who is CEO of the Almond Group, began learning about finance as a child. Meng sat down with The Post to answer some questions about financial literacy and its importance in life as well as how it helped him and how it can be of benefit to the Cambodian economy. He said that one of the first lessons he learnt when he started business is the option that he implemented many years ago and that was to always re-invest. “Any support is always important but usually finance from banks and institutions comes a bit later” Meng said. The 2018 US Foods Week officially ended, after 10 days of gastronomic promotion, on Wednesday (Dec. 12). The chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, Michael A. Newbill, spoke at the closing ceremony in Raffles Hotel Le Royal on Friday (Dec.14). Present at the auspicious ceremony were, among others, the economic associate at the US Embassy, Lauren Higgins, and Cambodian Tourism Federation President Luu Meng. The aid follows a similar three-year grant that ran from 2016 to 2018 with a budget of $3 million. After signing the agreement, Pierre Tami, CEO of ACAC, said that hospitality in Cambodia is evolving, noting that the number of tourists arriving in the Kingdom is expected to reach six to seven million by 2020. Mr Tami said the strong growth of the tourism sector meant that it is the right time to invest in training students to enter the hospitality industry. “The industry is looking for skilled staff,” he said. “They want workers with skills, but don’t know where to find them in Cambodia.” He added that youth entering the workforce are struggling to find jobs as they are turned away due to …
